A few years ago while I was driving on my way to my hotel, I was involved in an accident and suffered complete fractures of my knee on the right leg. I was taken to a nearby hospital and after x-rays were taken I was told that I needed open reduction and internal fixation of the fractures. I was in incredible pain and on heavy doses of painkillers – it all seemed like a nightmare. But I knew that there was no way for me to get to home country to take the procedure in my condition. So I agreed to have the surgery done there. I don't remember much from the hours preceding the surgery, but after I came to a few hours afterwards in my room, I was greeted by my wife who had flown all the way from San Jose, California to help me. He too had wanted me to somehow return to the California for the procedure, but he'd arrived while I was already in the O.R. I was given a very nice, clean room and they even provided a rollout bed for my wife to stay with me. Everyone went out of their way to help us and to make us feel comfortable in this "foreign" environment. I was up and walking with crutches the three days, and eight days later I was on my way back home. About a month later I followed up with an orthopedic surgeon on O’Connor Hospital to have my cast changed. I think we all expected to see a shoddy job underneath my cast, but we were all surprised to see that the incisions were barely noticeable, everything had healed nicely, and the follow-up x-rays showed near perfect alignment. The kicker was when I told the doctor how much we'd paid -- $2,000. He was flabbergasted and joked that he'd go to Philippines the next time he broke a bone!" Root canal in Quezon City, PhilippinesI was having my conference meeting with my big my clients when suddenly I felt a terrible pain in my right tooth. But what can I do, this meeting is really important to me. So I decided to let the meeting meet its end, and after that I took a medicine and stay at the hotel. Suddenly in the middle of the night, I woke up in a great pain so, I called my travel agent fast and ask him If he can recommend me a good dentist. This part of teeth is my problem back there at California. I have tried so many drugs just to skip this pain but it stays there always. So my Travel agent accommodated me in a hospital in Quezon City and introduced me to a dentist. I am not afraid of the procedure, what I’m afraid of is the bill. Back there at California, I have to pay at least $300 for a simple root canal. I was surprised when I just paid for almost $12. That’s a big saving. The Job was great! And I was so satisfied…
